Grain Surf Re-Evolution

Here is a little edit of Grain Surfboards' Surf Re-Evolution last weekend. Dylan went down with Mike Sidebottom and Michael Emery and Kevin Schoenthaler of Green Lightning Surfboards to play around with some Grain boards, promote their own boards, and enjoy the company of the local surf community.

Sorry about the lack of videos as of late. We have interviewed Skip Brunette, Lenny Nichols, and Joel St. John and are really excited about the videos, but are waiting to get some more footage of them to make their videos. Hopefully we'll be getting those videos up for you all soon.

Hurricane Irene with Mike and Michael

Over this past weekend, we had the pleasure of joining Mike Sidebottom and Michael Emery as they traveled to southern New England to surf pre-Irene swell and then back up to New Hampshire to enjoy the post-hurricane waves. Although we had a great time and as surfers, we live for this time of year, our thoughts go out to all those affected by Irene. We never wish for hurricanes to cause destruction or take lives. A great big thank you to all the response teams working around the clock to fix roads, restore power, and limit flooding.

Now, this is our longest video yet and it was a good test working through loads of footage. Although this is much more of a "surf video," it gives a taste as to how the documentary may look. We would love to hear what you all think as we are working through this. Thanks!

The 2nd annual Molly Surf Celebration was held last weekend with a grom event on Saturday and a costume filled adult day on Sunday. Both days were extremely well attended and incredibly fun. It was impossible not to be swept up by the love and joy in this community. Thank you to everyone responsible for making this event happen and to all those who attended and made it so much fun. A special thank you to the Rowlee family and Buck for emodying the most stoke we have ever seen.

We took our underwater housing out for the second time yesterday and had a blast shooting in the water. The strong offshore winds stood up the nice little waves creating sweet hollow barrels. We have a lot of practicing ahead of us, but it was so fun to take pictures in the surf on such a beautiful day and we got a few good shots. Looking forward to more practice soon.

Wounded Warriors Hit the Beach IV

Veterans were invited to the Wall at 10th Street this past Thursday to learn how to surf. This event was a great display of the spirit and simple joy of surfing. Volunteers helping all the veterans catch waves - some of them for the first time ever. Smiles all around.

I went over to the Wall this morning in hopes of getting a few shots of some longboarders riding at sunrise. I certainly didn't expect glassy waist+ waves, but it was probably for the best that I didn't bring my board. One guy was kind enough to offer to let me borrow one of his, but I had plenty of fun shooting from the beach. Here is a quick edit I put together, just playing around with a more conventional surf-video style. Ralph Fatello - Catch a Wave for Molly

In July 2009, five-year-old Molly Rowlee passed away from lymphoma. She was a beloved member of the New Hampshire surfing community. As he did 10 years ago for his father, Ralph Fatello has chosen to honor her by catching one wave every day for an entire year. On the 361st day, we visited Ralph and learned about his journey.

Summer Ambience

I went over to the coast today to get some summer footage. I had a lot of fun exploring the coast and spent a lot of time in Rye Harbor. The wall was packed with people and, as always, I was impressed by the number of surfers in the water. It was a real summer's day over there. It felt nice. Was hoping to do a time-lapse but I wasn't there at quite the right time, perhaps tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good Fourth of July weekend.

First Interview and Incredible Stars

I did our first interview today with my dad. It went pretty well and things seemed to come out looking and sounding really good. My dad said a lot of great things and it's getting me pumped to talk to more people. Thank you Dad.

I also went over to the coast tonight to try some night time-lapse stuff. The stars over there were incredible. Not sure if that was a normal night or what, but it was fantastic. There are some photos on our facebook page if you want to check them out.

Quick edit of the grey day in Hampton:

We spotted Ralph Fatello taking his pics on the wall when we got there, so we introduced ourselves. Then we drove around with Tom (see end of video) checking out various spots. Headed back to Cinny Rains (Cinnamon Rainbows Surf Shop) and met Dave Cropper, owner and a killer dude.
